The salt is not a worry. Moisture is. But since you are in Australia, much of your lumber is Eucalyptus which would be a very good choice. It has a certain natural fungus resistance and even a little Termite resistance. Try to avoid direct contact with the soil. You folks have some mean termites down there but near the ocean they are not quite so bad.
